General Description of Playas del Este

Playas del Este is the municipality where you can find the most popular beaches of Havana City, these beaches are respectively Tararÿ, the Megano beach, Marazul (officially Santa María del Mar), Mi Cayito (a gay beach), Boca Ciega, Guanabo and Brisas del Mar (where water sports like kitesurfing are most played). From all these beaches, the most featured is surely Marazul, but the most popular in terms of vacation rental is Guanabo where most private homes for rent are located. Guanabo is the neighborhood with the biggest urban center of the zone and the preferred lodging place by tourists, who also lodge in Boca Ciega or Brisas del Mar. While Santa María del Mar (Marazul) has hotels for the most part and very few renting homes, which are mostly located in the hill, quite far from the beach. So it's typical to first look for homes vacation rentals in Guanabo and then go to the beach in Marazul, without counting that Guanabo also has good beaches.

For these reasons the tourists generally prefer to stay in a house rental in Guanabo, not only because most of the houses for rent are there, but also because you can find the majority fo places for shopping and eating. Guanabo is only three kilometers away from Marazul, so you can reach it easily by taxi.
