Villa Clara is one of the middle provinces of Cuba, it confines at North with the Mexican Gulf, the Florida Strait and the old Bahamas channel and at the South with two other provinces, Cienfuegos at the West and Sancti Spíritus at the East. Up to 1975 Villa Clara were part of a whole provincial block, formed with the two other provinces, Cienfuegos and Sancti Spíritus.

Initially Villa Clara was a place almost unknown by the tourists. Only sometimes we could notice some sporadic excursions. But, since the rock path which put in communication the territory with the famous Santa María Cay was built, everything has changed.

The capital city of the province, Santa Clara has many interesting places and a great historic value in Cuba. Also it has the Ernesto Che Guevara Memorial made in honor to the famous Santa Clara battle where the Ernesto Che Guevara's heroic actions made a decisive turn in the national freedom war, especially known as a Cuban Revolution. Also in this city we can find the rests of the famous guerrillero, and therefore only for this, Santa Clara is of great interests for the tourism and the enthusiasts of Cuba history, without counting the Che Guevara's fans themselves.

Among other places of interest in the province, we could mention the Ensenacho and Las Brujas cays, located at the North, the San Juan de los Remedios city, which historic center was declared as a national monument and finally we can't forget that Villa Clara also contains part of the Escambray Mountains, without a doubt one of the best places for the ecological tourism, where the Elguea Spa thermal and medical waters help the visitors to improve their health.
